This Cancer New Moon/Eclipse is a portal. Almost 20 years ago, according to my calculations, we, as a group consciousness, were given another portal and opportunity to really elevate and mature our caring energies, but not enough people accepted enough personal responsibility for life and too many people fell deeper into unconscious living. We’ve struggled to wake up from this block for a long time, but now, another portal is open to offer us another opportunity to elevate ourselves to that next level of vibration of caring, and of taking care of one another and Mother Earth. Just take a look around – there are plenty of things going on that are calling us to wake up, open our hearts, and take action.
Mars, an action taking energy, is now in the loving, heart-centered, children loving, high energy/action, risk taking sign of Leo. As are Mercury and the Goddess asteroid Juno – a guardian of women and children. I love it when the Universe lines up like this with such powerful opportunities for us to learn, grow, heal and actively take care of one another and the Earth!
Mercury is literally helping us transform our way of thinking and connect our way of thinking with our heart. Adding Juno in there helps us to remember our Mother Earth needs our loving care as do the children – human children and all the other children of Earth.
Some of the tougher energies with this new Moon have to do with emotional control and fear. We also get a boost of power and intuition. Balance is critical; don’t over-ego with power and don’t get controlling with your intuition. Feel them – this is a time to learn how to work your power and intuition in grounded and caring ways.
At the same time, be watchful for emotional control by others (close to you, in the greater society and you with yourself and others). Your fears may get triggered more than usual and others may try to manipulate you by stirring up fearful things to hide something, to feed their ego need to control everything. The list is endless.
The energy of Cancer has an interesting characteristic. It holds experiences in its unconscious memory. When an something is experienced again, it will trigger an emotion, but it won’t always come with a conscious memory. It often appears as if someone with a strong Cancer energy is “moody”, but the truth is, they’re in a near-constant state of reacting emotionally to an outside stimulus and have no conscious connection between the two the memory and the emotion.
The bright side is, this is not necessarily “easy” to heal, but there are great ways to identify triggers as well as great ways to reprogram emotions and stimuli. Aromatherapy, light and color therapy, sound and music therapy, meditation, body energy work, using food as a healing modality, working with crystals, art (color a mandala or any other picture that speaks to you), singing, connecting with nature (walk barefoot on the Earth/the beach, etc. for example).
Interestingly, with the recent Balsamic Moon phase (the last and dark phase of the Moon right before a New Moon), it was about looking at what society tells us we need to use to determine our self-worth and the worth of others.
The Balsamic Moon is where we release, rest and rejuvenate so we are sacred, empty and rested vessels for the energies of the New Moon to enter our beings. So we’re entering this New Moon and eclipse with the energies that have told us how we should feel about and value ourselves being disrupted and now we’re ready for some changes!
And with an eclipse, expect changes. They’ll be unexpected and you may not understand them right away, but rest assured, the truth will unfold. As will people’s true colors. Things are going to get even more interesting!
There are some balancing energies we can work and play with to help us with these intense energies.
Plan ahead for some quality fun and ways to laugh – watch funny movies, have fun sharing meals with loved ones, read funny books, go see a funny movie with a friend, spend time laughing with children (whatever age they are!).
Get together with a safe, good friend and list and laugh at both of your quirks, qualities, beliefs, feelings, etc. that our culture would classify as “negative”. For example, laugh hysterically at what a control freak you are.
Laughter and courageously facing fears, emotional control, feeling like there is “power over”, will shatter the intense, violent energies of this New Moon. It will be like staring fear and violence in the face and laughing at it, thereby taking away it’s power over you.
And work/play with the above-mentioned things that help heal Cancer. We all have Cancer somewhere in our charts, so we can all benefit from aromatherapy, light/color therapy, food as a healing tool, and so on.
This new Moon reminds me of one of my favorite quotes. It’s from the fabulous movie “Labyrinth”.
Sarah to the Goblin King: “Give me the child. Through dangers untold and hardships unnumbered, I have fought my way here to the castle beyond the Goblin City to take back the child that you have stolen. For my will is as strong as yours, and my kingdom is as great... You have no power over me.”
Wishing you all a bright, beautiful, loving New Moon and eclipse.
